EPW - Dubois & Comp, quarter-hour repeater with jacquemart automaton including shuttered erotic scene, 18K gold OF original case, signed gilt cuvette, slide on band at 7 to open shutter for viewing erotic scene, slide on band at 1 to prevent repeat and automation activation, white enamel chapter ring dial surrounded at left and right by multicolor gold automated jacquemart figures striking bells in sequence with repeat strike, at bottom with erotic automated scene of a multicolor gold pair of lovers which is concealed by blued shutters with multicolor gold decoration, KWKS, likely a verge escapement though not disassembled to confirm, gilt mvt with pierced two-footed balance bridge, s#23042 to cuvette. Gross weight of assembled watch 84.0 dwt (130.7 g).
CONDITION:
Mvt: NR, ticks briefly with a twist, overhaul needed, correct repeat function when pendant is fully depressed and held down for some extra moments as motion of quarter-hour rack is very sluggish and takes some seconds to lift into full position, inconsistent repeat tone which is typically better in the dial down position but with some rattle when dial up suggesting possible need for hammer adjustment, fine cosmetic mvt condition overall, scattered fine scratches; nearly flawless white enamel chapter ring dial with two minuscule flakes to inner edge; excellent hands; case rear in need of attention as it closes with a snap but typically immediately to near-immediately snaps back open, inner perimeter of case rear with evident past gold soldered repairs of planchet seam with few small areas where very thin slivers of light are visible through, case shows very light wear, band with profuse dings or shallow denting, rear with scattered small dings, engine turning detail with mild reduction; tight bow; domed glass crystal with few fine scratches.
